Gyeongju Entrance Fees and Opening Hours

Bulguksa and Seokguram are free to enter; Cheonmachong and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond cost 3,000 won for an adult. Fees, hours by season and parking, from Gyeongju city and the temple.

Updated November 2026

Bulguksa and Seokguram Grotto are free to enter: Gyeongju city’s tourism site lists both as free, and so does Bulguksa’s own English page (checked November 2026). The fees you meet in Gyeongju are small: 3,000 won for an adult at Cheonmachong, the tomb you can enter at Daereungwon, and 3,000 won at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond. Cheomseongdae is free.

The paid sites, Cheonmachong at Daereungwon and Donggung and Wolji, are in the town centre; Bulguksa and Seokguram, both free, are on the mountain to the south-east.

Gyeongju city’s tourism site (its Seokguram page and its one-day UNESCO course page) and Bulguksa’s English page, checked November 2026; the 3,000 won figures are from the city’s fee table. That table, which carries no update date, still lists 6,000 won for an adult at both temples, so it disagrees with the other pages; the free entry above follows the city’s temple pages and Bulguksa’s own page. Group tickets for Cheonmachong and Donggung and Wolji are 2,400, 1,600 and 800 won; the same fee page lists exemptions for children under 6, people over 65 and Gyeongju residents. The fee page carries no update date.

Parking at Bulguksa is 2,000 won for a car and 4,000 won for a bus, on the temple’s page. Seokguram has paid public parking nearby.

Checked November 2026. The sources do not all agree: another of the city’s pages gives both temples as 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with last admission at 5:00 PM, and the city’s Seokguram page itself says the hours may change. Check the hours posted at the gate, especially in winter.

From Bulguksa to Seokguram, VisitKorea gives a shuttle bus every hour, about 20 minutes up the mountain. Pets are not allowed at Seokguram.

What a tour’s “admission included” covers

Illustration: a weathered three-storey stone pagoda in an open grassy field in late autumn, two grass-covered burial mounds behind it and a few visitors on a gravel path in the distance
Illustration. A stone pagoda and two burial mounds on a late-autumn morning.

With both temples free, the admission in a tour’s price comes down to Cheonmachong and Donggung and Wolji, and whatever else the tour adds. On LOVE KOREA's day, admission is included, but Ahopsan Forest is not, and Donggung and Wolji is 3,000 won more if you choose it over the museum. Lecirt's day includes every admission on every option. TOURSTORY Korea's day includes Donggung and Wolji, and Yangdong and Cheonmachong on package A. KOREA DISCOVERY TOUR's small group includes Cheonmachong; on its private option admission is not included.

So the fees are not a reason to pick one tour over another. The difference between a tour and going alone is the 18.3 km by road between Bulguksa and the town, and the trip from Busan; Busan to Gyeongju by train, bus or tour weighs that up.
