Busan to Gyeongju: Train, Bus or Tour?

Getting from Busan to Gyeongju: the KTX in about 30 minutes to a station outside town, the bus terminal in the centre, the walk between the sights, the entrance fees, and when a tour is the easier day.

Updated November 2026

You can go from Busan to Gyeongju by KTX in about 30 minutes, the city of Gyeongju’s own figure, but the train stops at Gyeongju Station outside town, 10.7 km by road from the tomb park and 28.3 km from Bulguksa. The buses end in the town centre. On your own the sights cost little: Bulguksa and Seokguram are free, Cheonmachong and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond 3,000 won each for an adult. A tour is the easier day when you want Bulguksa and the old town together without working out the local buses: LOVE KOREA’s Busan: Gyeongju UNESCO Authentic Full-Day Guided Tour, from US$36 on promotion, usually US$57 a person (checked November 2026), collects you at a Busan subway exit and brings you back in the evening.

Powerd by GetYourGuide

The tour cost US$36.14 a person on 27 November 2026 and US$57.49 on 20 January and 10 March 2027 (checked November 2026). Free cancellation until 24 hours before.

We print no fare or timetable: both are on Korail’s booking site, letskorail.com, for the day you pick.

The KTX is quick, but its station is far from both halves of the sights, and Bulguksa is 18 km from the old town. On your own, a day is two local journeys on top of the train. On LOVE KOREA’s day the coach does all of them, from a Busan subway exit at 8:10 AM, 8:30 AM or 9:10 AM to the drop-offs between 7:20 and 8:10 PM, and the price includes admission at the stops. If you would rather sleep in Gyeongju, KOREA DISCOVERY TOUR's small group collects from hotels in Gyeongju as well as Busan.
